STEFAN MOERTH aka STEREOTYP. A New Yorker at heart, eat land drink like an Austrian, smoke like Jah peoples. Ive been in the game for years producing, remixing, and publishing music. My first break came with My Sound, a record I dropped on G-Stone (the label of the Kruders and the Dorfmeisters). Back then it was all about straight-ahead grizzly technoid soundscapes, out of control low ends, although the record was pure Soul and Dancehall. I guess it was all about updating these genres, and giving them a likkle Sci-fi future twist. I was blessed to have amazing talent on this one: Hubert Tubbs (The Tower of Power), Tikiman, DJ Collage, Cesar, and Trigga to name a few. The next dent came with the Phase III LP released on Klein records last year or so. For this one I teamed up with my family MCC of Al Haca. and we worked on bringing our future sound to the dancefloors worldwide. The record was mostly a Dancehall venture (how we do – Blade Runner style strictly), though there were some Soul and Hip Hop gems on it as well (nothing like you heard before trust me). The key talent on this one: Lady Saw, Daddy Freddy, Hawk Eye, Cesar, Spectacular, RQM, Ras B etc. And right now Im actually about to drop my newest installment this one is back on G-Stone. Till you hear it – aint no reason to discuss it. It was after the bizarre and non compromising single on Stereo Deluxe records that the meeting of Stereotyp and Microfish (a close musical connection to the Al Haca sound system), was worthy of notice and attention. The trips from North Eastern Germany to Vienna became more frequent and the experiments really turned inwards and forwards. A true meeting of the musical minds, with knob twiddling as the focus of the art form. Stereotyp meets Microfish became Stereotyp meets Al Haca and the series of small twists and turns on the control panels got greater and more profound.

The future sound pioneers are back with a 7 song mini LP genre bender entitled Family Business. This time around the mission is to get personal.
While featuring extended Family members, Al Haca have decided to focus on the voice of the eclectic RQM. Stylistically diverse, the end product is an intimate LP rich in storytelling.

Cee: “Apart from touring and dropping limited edition 7 inches, we’ve really been out of the mix for a second. So with this new release, which is really a preview to an entire series, we’ve decided to show the world the full spectrum of our sound – from the pop to the not so. And being that we have a host of vocal talent around us – we put all of them on. It’s family business!!”

Unlike other producer driven projects, which come off sounding more like compilations, Family Business is pure Al Haca. The songs drift effortlessly between 4-4 beats and staggering offs, acoustic instrumentation and the signature Al Haca – Stereotyp Sci-Fi synths, while a world of nano dub bubbles just below the surface. Cryptonite, Dial Zero and Citrus call for late night headphone sessions, while Family Business or Banana Split will rock every dancefloor and barbeque this summer!!! Once again on production duty alongside Cee is the Tolcha beat surgeon known as Rasda, while the Executive Producer controls are held down by none other than Vienna’s prodigy problem child Stereotyp, who recently ripped up playlists worldwide with his future soul album “Keepin Me” (G-Stone). Alongside RQM, the army of choice vocalists contributing megatons of soul include Coppa, Oliver Grimball, Hubert Tubbs, Sandra Kurzweil, Cesar Sampson, FEFE, Patrizia Ferrara and Vera Böhnisch aka L’enfant Terrible.

Apart from the limited edition Citrus 7”, the new Al Haca LP entitled Family Business will only be available on all DOWNLOAD PORTALS (Beatport, iTunes etc…).

RQM: “We’re all vinyl junkies so it was a hard decision to drop this LP online only. But being that the industry is on the brink of a paradigm shift, distributors are dying left and right, and the ones standing only do a good job for the majors, we felt this could be the only way we could really reach the people. I mean it’s no longer a cop out if you rock waves off of a laptop or do a routine with Final Scratch.

And we will still drop editions for djays and collectors, but I think it’s time to enjoy the immediacy of the digital age. I just really hope the media grows up to treat music independently from the format it’s being presented on! In the 90´s it really made sense to give a middle finger to the majors and press records, but back then those records actually reached people and were affordable for the labels to make. It s a whole different market now and sinking a label just to
stand by a format is foolish, but I see it happen all the time.”

Makossa & Megablast have already created a stir with a series of hot remixes and two single releases. Their first single Like a Rocket / Kunuaka was unveiled at last years Winter Music Conference and proved an immediate hit with the likes of such luminaries as Gilles Peterson, Carl Craig, Laurent Garnier and Kenny Larkin. The title track of the album was nominated for Best track 2006 on Gilles coveted Worldwide awards. Their futuristic remake of labelmate Tosca’s Heidi Bruehl track was a sonic highlight from Tosca’s remixes album with a killer riff that made it one of the most floor friendly G Stone releases of recent years.
